Brigadier C.N. Barclay CBE, DSO (British)
Barclay was commissioned in The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in 1915. He served in France and Mesopotamia in WW1 then on the North West Frontier. In WW2 he was in command of an infantry battalion at Dunkirk and later a brigade in North West Europe in 1944/45. On his retirement after the war he concentrated on writing.
