Mary Borden

Borden was born in Chicago. She set up a hospital unit on the Western Front, for which she was awarded the Croix de Guerre. She went on to have a distinguished career as a writer, publishing a number of novels as well as The Forbidden Zone in 1929. She divorced her first (American) husband and married Edward Spears (q.v.) who she had met during the war.
