Ian Uys

Uys was South African. He spent a year in the Air Force and then studied at the University of Capetown, graduating as a Bachelor of Commerce. After working and studying in the U.S.A. and Australia he returned to qualify as a chartered accountant. He was related to a survivor of the Battle of Delville Wood (see his book on this subject). He was co-founder of the Military Medal Society of South Africa and a former committee member of the South African Military History Society. He wrote a number of books on military history, mostly on South African connections.
