Captain Rene Fonck

Fonck was one of the leading Allied aviators of the war. See his edited autobiography, "Ace of Aces". Born in 1894, he was a young French farm boy with a dream of righting the wrongs that had been wreaked on his homeland by the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. He was the leading Allied fighter pilot in the war, with 75 confirmed victories, only 5 less than von Richthofen.
