Ward Rutherford
Rutherford was born in Richmond, Surrey, in 1927. He was educated in Jersey where he lived throughout the German occupation. He was imprisoned for listening to the BBC broadcasts on a home-made crystal set. After the war he joined the management of Channel TV and from there he went to the BBC where he was a regular broadcaster on radio and TV.
