Samuel Hynes
Hynes was educated at the University of Minnesota and Columbia University. He taught at Swarthmore College, Northwestern University, and at Princeton University. From 1943 to 1946 and again from 1952 to 1953 he served as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps.
