Sir Cuthbert Headlam DSO, OBE, TD, DL

Headlam was a Conservative politician. He was born in Lancashire and educated at King's School, Canterbury, and then Magdalen College Oxford. He was a Clerk in the House of Lords between 1897 and 1924 and became a barrister in 1906. He served with the Bedfordshire Yeomanry from 1910 to 1926, was mentioned in despatches in the war and was awarded the DSO and the OBE. He retired as a lieutenant-colonel. He became an M.P. in 1924 and with two breaks sat in the House until 1951 when he retired. He was a Junior Minister in various Governments. He was created a baronet in 1935, and he died in 1961.
