Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Albert G. Stern KBE, CMG
Stern (1878 - 1966) was a Banker who became Secretary to The Landship Committee during the War, where his organisational ability and influence in financial circles assisted the Committee in creating the first British "tank". During the War, he came into conflict with the War Office but had the advantage of direct access to the Prime Minister, and no civil service career to protect. He was, however, removed from direct involvement with the production of tanks, and sidelined.RCC6916 Tanks: 1914 - 1918. The Log-Book of a Pioneer (Stern)
