Roy Swales
Swales entered Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth in 1959. He was then selected for helicopter training and later flew from destroyers and aircraft carriers for 24 years. He commanded HMS Upton, 1971-1972, and the Naval Air Squadron, 1977-1978. He held staff appointments at Flag Officer Naval Air Command, the MOD, and NATO HQ. He retired as a captain in 1993 and then worked for GKN Westland Helicoppters,
