Captain Augustus Agar VC, DSO

Agar was an officer on HMS Hibernia, a pre-dreadnought at Scapa Flow, at the beginning of the war. Hibernia was later sent to Gallipoli to provide gunnery support. Later the ship was stationed at Rosyth. In December Agar joined an old cruiser, HMS Iphigenia, as First Lieutenant. In March 1917, the ship was ordered to Murmansk. They left for home waters in February 1918. In the latter part of the war Agar served in Coastal Motor Boats. He died in 1968.
