Janet Kitz
Kitz began research into the Halifax explosion in 1980. She was then a Research Associate at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. She wrote two previous books before the one about the Halifax explosion. She was born in Carnwath in Scotland and moved to Novia Scotia in 1971, and lived in Halifax. In 2004 she received an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from St. Mary's University.
