Ron Austin
Austin's father was Private Frederick Austin, No. 970, D Company, 8th Battalion 1st AIF. He served with the battalion throughout the war. He was one of the few 1914 enlistees to survive. Austin Jnr wrote another 5 books, mainly on military history, before the publication of this book.
