Michael Foley
Foley was a local Essex historian, who had written a number of books about localised areas in the East of England and war's effects on them. He had started life as an inner city schoolteacher (although his first job before that was as a guard on goods trains, which probably explains at least in part why he wrote books on the railways in the War) and then became a full time carer for his disabled twin grandsons. He was a prolific author.RCC8173 Britain's Railways in the First World War (Foley)
