Brigadier-General R.E.H. Dyer CB

This is the Sir Reginald Dyer who gave the order for the massacre at Amritsar on 13th April 1919. A crowd of non violent protesters, along with some Baishakhi pilgrims had gathered in the Jallianwalla Bagh garden in Amritsar. Dyer ordered his troops to fire on them. Dyer thereafter was much reviled, but his back story, part of which comprises this book, is interesting.
