Brigadier-General Augustus M. Prentiss Ph.D.

Prentiss was primarily known as a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Chemical Warfare Service of the United States Army. He entered the US Army in 1913 and was detailed to the Chemical Corps in 1917. He started World War 2 as a Lieutenant-Colonel in the General Staff Corps and retired as a Brigadier-General. He had the Distinguished Service Medal and also the Legion of Honour of the Republic of France. As well as the book on chemical warfare in the Collection, he published books on Civil Defence and Air Raid Precautions.
