Gail Braybon
Braybon was an independent historian. She was the author of "Women Workers in the First World War". She attended Southampton School for Girls and then studied History at the University of Sussex from 1970 to 1973. She then went on to take an MPhil (1974 - 1976), which looked at women workers in the First World War. She was unable to fund subsequent academic progress and instead trained as a computer analyst and programmer, working in local government and latterly at the University of Brighton. until illness intervened. Her Sussex thesis was developed as the book "Women Workers in the First World War". She produced a major body of work as an independent historian.
