Geoffrey Serle

Serle won a Rhodes Scholarship in 1947 and completed his Doctorate at Oxford University. From 1955 to 1963 he taught in the Department of History at the University of Melbourne. He then became a Reader in History at Monash University and later was a Professorial Fellow at the Australian National University. He wrote a number of noted books. He was a biographer as opposed to a military historian. He died in 1998.
