Alan Mallinson
Mallinson was a former infantry and cavalry officer with 35 years of service in the British Army. He was the author of the popular Matthew Hervey series of historical novels, but he also wrote number of military histories. He wrote on Defence matters for The Times and was also a regular reviewer for that newspaper.
