General Paul Von Lettow-Vorbeck

Lettow-Vorbeck was born in Saarlouis in Western Germany in 1870. He was the son of a general. He entered the army, and served in China, South-West Africa, and elsewhere. In January 1914 he was posted to Dar es Salaam, the capital of German East Africa, to take command of its garrison. The rest is in his own engaging story of his campaign against the Allied Forces in the war.
