A.K. Foxwell

This author was Agnes Kate Foxwell, so we have at least solved the mystery of the author's gender, because this little book doesn't appear to give any clues. Foxwell is possibly best known for having published a book of poems by Sir Thomas Wiat, who lived in the early 16th Century. In July 1916 she took up the position of Principal Overlooker in Danger Buildings at Woolwich Arsenal. This apparently lasted for only 6 months.
