Charles Beresford

Beresford's lifelong interest in the Great War was prompted by the realisation that his uncle, Private Jack Marlow of the 7th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, had been killed at the Battle of Loos a few days short of his seventeenth birthday. He was an authority on British and Imperial combatant clergymen and ministers of all denominations in the Great War. He was educated at Lawrence Sherriff School in Rugby and at University College, London.
