Jim Smithson
Smithson moved to Germany a short time after qualifying as a teacher. He taught in the British Forces Schools there. He had always had a keen interest in military history, visiting the battlefields of the two world wars as much s possible.
With his fluency in German, he was able to conduct his primary research into his subjects.
