Arthur Conan Doyle

Conan Doyle was, of course, the famous creator of Sherlock Holmes, but he was also a prominent figure in pre-war Britain. Quite why he thought he was properly equipped to write a history of the was is unclear, but the fact remains that he did do so, and his was such a prominent name that we have felt that we could not just ignore the books. Make of them what you will, but they are still an interesting part of the war bibliography.
