E.C. Coleman

Coleman served with the Royal Navy for 36 years. He mounted and led 4 Arctic expeditions in search of evidence from the 1845 Franklin North West Passage Expedition. He also visited Antarctica twice. He was a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Chairman of the Naval Historical Collectors and Research Society, as well as a member of the Society for Naval Research and of the Navy Records Society. He was a prolific author.
