Will Irwin

Irwin was an American who appears to have been some sort of correspondent, whether independent or attached to any particular organisation we do not know. We suspect, from how he writes, that he was more independent than anything else, but he appears to have spent a large part of the war in France, notably the Verdun area. However, in between two spells in the Verdun area, he spent quite some time with the Italian Army and it is because of this that we have categorised this book in the "Italian Army" slot.
