Quintin Barry

Barry was a solicitor and retired Employment Judge. He had also held a variety of offices in both the public and private sectors, including the NHS and local radio. He was also Secretary General of an international group of law firms. He was also the author of a number of books on military history. These included a two volume work on the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 - 1871, a history of the Austro-Prussian War of 1866, and the first modern history of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877 - 1878. He also wrote a study of the life and career of Helmuth von Moltke, and a biography of the 17th Earl of Derby. His book on the Naval War in the North Sea appears to have been his first venture into naval military history; nevertheless it is an accomplished work and a very valuable addition to The Collection.
