Lieutenant-Colonel G.S. Hutchinson DSO MC
We know little about this officer and author; the Preface to his book on machine guns (q.v.) holds no clues as to what his role in the war was, possibly it was to do with machine guns.
We do know that he also wrote the War History of the 33rd Division.
His book on machine guns reveals that he was an accomplished artist as well, there is a frontispiece reproduction of his painting "The Devil's Watering-Pot" depicting a British machine gun team in action from a trench.
