Stephen Wade

Wade was born in Leeds and knew the Harrogate area very well. He had written extensively on Yorkshire history, specialising in the social history of crime and law. His love of football led to the writing of his "Towns and Cities" book on Harrogate, when he discovered the life of Donald bell, the Harrogate teacher and professional footballer who won the VC.
