Professor Irene Guenther

Guenther was Professor of Modern History in the Honors College, University of Houston. A previous book of hers (that is previous to the "Postcards from the Trenches" book we have in the Collection) was awarded the Sierra Prize for the Best History Book by a Female Historian by the Western Association of Women Historians, and also the Millia Davenport Award for Best Book on Fashion History by the Costume Society of America. She had also written on art and politics in Vichy France and "degenerate" art in the Third Reich, and the politics of fashion in Allied Occupied Germany after World War Two.
