Lieutenant-Colonel the Hon. H.D. Napier

Napier had served in the Army as a career officer, retiring two years before the outbreak of war. When war did break out, he volunteered for service, and found himself in diplomacy which is what he had specialised in during his military career. He had served as Military Attache in various countries - Persia, Russia, Serbia and Bulgaria. He was selected to resume that post in Bulgaria, at the Legation in Sofia.
