Professor Allan K. Wildman

Wildman was born in Wooster, Ohio, in 1927, where his father was a physician at Wooster College. In 1945, he entered the US Navy's Officer Training Program, but with the end of the war, he was discharged in 1946. He then studied at the Universities of Dubuque and then Michigan, where he received his BA degree in 1950. He then took a Bachelor of Divinity degree from the University of Chicago. It was during this period that he developed a close interest in the study of Russia. He then studied in Germany, at Tubingen and Munich, and he married a German. He returned to the US in 1956 where he attained his rank of Professor at the State University of New York in 1976. Two years later he returned to Ohio as Professor of History at Ohio State University. He died of cancer in 1996.
