Alexander Gross F.R.G.S.

Gross was a native of Hungary who founded the famous map publisher "Geographia" "in the early 1900s", according to Wikipedia. He was a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society. It was not until the 1940s, however, that Geographia entered a period of rapid growth both in the UK and the US. In the late 1980s the company was purchased by the Rand McNally Corporation, but a few years later was bought back by its former owners.
