G.R. Singleton-Gates

It is unclear as to exactly who the author of this book was, but almost certainly it was Singleton-Gates himself. This may sound a peculiar remark, but it will be explained by looking at the book, he wrote the "Foreword" to the book, but no author is quoted at all. It is also unclear what role he played in this episode; he must have been in either the Army or the Navy, almost certainly the latter, because the book is very much written as if by someone who was present and was well versed with military procedures.
