V.F. Eberle
Eberle was educated at Clifton College and Trinity College Cambridge, where he read English. He was a member of the Royal Engineers Volunteers whilst in the OTC at Clifton College. He came from an oil industry background, in which he worked at the outbreak of the war.
He was a keen sportsman, notably rugby. He maintained close connections in later life with Bristol and Gloucestershire. In his retirement he wrote the book of his reminiscences as a Sapper officer in the war, which we have in the Collection.
