Major-General & Professor Julian Thompson

Julian Howard Atherden Thompson CB, OBE, was a military historian and former Royal Marines Officer who commanded 3 Commando during the Falklands War. He was born in 1934. He served in the military between 1952 and 1986. He also saw action during the Indonesian/Malaysian insurgency. He was a Senior Research Fellow in logistics and armed conflict at King's College London between 1987 and 1997, and was a Visiting Professor at the Department of War Studies at King's from 1997 onwards.
