This book was first published in Australia by Allen & Unwin in 2014. The version with The Collection is the Constable paperback published (apparently only in that format) in the U.K. The book represents considerable research on the part of Barton, and sheds light on the Fromelles action. Devised as a "diversion" from The Somme, it turned into one of the most futile and horrifying episodes in the War (which is saying something!). In one night, the Australians and British suffered more casualties than in the Boer, Korean and Vietnam Wars combined.
