The Year 1917 Illustrated: A Record of Notable Achievements and Events

This book was part of a series of "Years Illustrated" which began in 1909. It is not known when the series ended. Whilst the narrative is not exclusively about the war, there is an inevitability in most of the book being about the war, in its various theatres. However, there is also a substantial chapter which relates to "the Parliamentary Year", which is illuminating. The book is full of very interesting photographs and maps. Indeed, it is because these books of this sort which were published at the time the events were happening so often have information, and more especially photographs, which will not be found in modern publications, that the book was bought for the Collection.
