This book is all about one of the main "tributaries" of collecting which we have, that is, the profound effects of the British Empire's actions in the Arab world during World War 1. Nearly everything of note that happened has shaped the Middle East into forms unrecognisable to Nineteenth Century diplomats. This book is a comprehensive study of how and why the British generals and diplomats acted as they did, and the consequences with which, even a century after those events, we are living with and trying to cope with today.
