Jihad: The Ottomans and The Allies 1914 - 1922
This is a valuable book for anyone seeking to understand (or start to understand) the chaos which large parts of the Middle East lay in today. The book tells the story of the first modern Jihad raised during the war, how it came about, and what, if any, its effectiveness was. The modern era is not specifically addressed, but obviously what is discussed in this book resonates down the years.
