The Death of a Hero: The Quest For FIrst World War Poet Richard Adlington's Berkshire Retreat

The genesis for this book was the author buying Richard Adlington's cottage in Berkshire. Ultimately, this book was the result. Adlington survived the war to live a sometimes quite tempestuous life including, with him turning to prose, his book "The Colonel's Daughter". This proved to be too near truth in some aspects to be entirely comfortable, both for Adlington and the supposed characters in the book. This book is the story of that journey, so it is not really a biography at all, but nevertheless it is a compelling picture of the life of one of the so-called "minor" war poets, and so it deserves its place in the Biography Category.
