This is a well written account of "The First Blitz", from both sides. The story is of the year long bombing campaign centred on South-East England, mainly London, by the large bombers developed by the Germans.
Between early 1917 and mid 1918 the Gothas and Giants dropped an impressive weight of bombs on their targets. Whilst cold statistics do not point to the campaign having had any significant, lasting, effect the moral(e) effect was much nearer success than is usually understood.
