There is an Introduction by Harold Shukman who was a Lecturer in Modern Russian History at the University of Oxford. This book was first published in 1919. We do have a number of books on the Russian Revolution in The Collection, but this one is an important addition, as it was one of the first accounts of the Revolution, written by a sympathiser from the West, who later went to live in Soviet Russia. The book was written by an onlooker, so the text is somewhat different to the usual treatment. It is vibrant and gives the reader a good idea of what it was like, on the spot.
