This book captures the collapse of the Ottoman world and also the pivotal moment in Palestine history. It is the diary of an ordinary recruit, Ihsan Hasan-al-Turjonan (1893 - 1917) who was the first ordinary recruit to describe the war from the Arab perspective. He was stationed in Jerusalem and describes life in the besieged city.
