KEKs and Fokkerstaffels. The Early German Fighter Units in 1915 - 1916
This book is clearly a labour of love by the author. It is about the first "squadrons" - KEKs or Fokkerstaffels - of German fighters on the Western Front, looking at many airfields used by those units from Flanders to the Vosges. These units were groups on only a semi-official basis, they gave way in 1916 to the more highly organised Jastas.
Each airfield is treated separately, the narrative being mainly about the airmen who flew from the particular location. This includes many famous names.
There are colour plans of each airfield plus endless photographs of people and places.
The book is, to say the least, comprehensive, and must be regarded as an important part of our history of the German Fighter Force.
