Italian performance in the Great War has mostly been disparaged. This is the first book-length study of Italian morale in any language. Wilcox reassess Italian policy and performance, both of the Army as an institution and of the ordinary soldiers, especially in the light of the acknowledged very hard military discipline in the Italian Army of that period.
