The War Office at War

This book is a First Edition and is signed by the author. It is by an author, born in the middle of the 19th Century, and who started his career as the lowest form of clerical life of the railways and then rose through the ranks to the very top positions in the railway industry. By the time war came, he occupied an important position in the railway hierachy of the country, and at that stage he had already been an important part of government planning for the war which was seen to be likely to happen. Throughout the war he occupied an important role in the transport aspects of the War Office's work, so this book is absolutely invaluable for any student of this aspect of the war.
