This book examines parliamentary archives in order to understand the role of the French Parliament during the war. It explains how the Republic survived the war without great changes to its institutions. There were concerns over the compatability of Parliament, and the secrecy and unity of decisions which were needed during a time of war. However, the use of committees (including secret ones) allowed Parliament to have a large role in government throughout the war.
