The Author has drawn on diaries, archives and interviews with the descendants of the troops, many of whom died without there being any means of commemorating them directly. Even today, over half a million of the troops killed in the war have no known grave. This book tells the story of how this situation culminated in the resting place of "The Unknown Warrior"
