1914 (Second Edition)

This is the Second Edition of this book; we already have the First Edition, but as soon as it was published, French came under attack from various sources, including Asquith. French then contrived to have a Second Edition published, in which he has written a special Preface of about 8 pages. In this he answers his critics vigorously. We consider that this episode should be visible to researchers, which is why we have both the First and the Second Editions in the Collection, sitting beside each other. This book was donated to us by Mr. Glyn Williams, of the Western Front Association. The purchase price quoted is not that, instead it is our estimate of the book's vale, it being a donated item.
