Sir Basil H. Liddell Hart (British)

Liddell Hart was probably one of the most famous of military historians and commentators, and - having served in the British Army during the War, he built on and some would say took advantage of that period of his life. Nevertheless, throughout the inter war years and again immediately after the Second War, he was one of the most respected commentators and theoreticians on military matters. There is a school of thought which ascribes at least part of the success of the Germans' "blitzkrieg" tactics, especially at the beginning of that war, to Liddell Hart.
